The Charles Walker Band has refined their unique sound into a fusion of funk, pop, R&B and Motown. Though compared to an array of musicians (Prince, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, James Brown), their music retains deep gospel influences and positive lyrical messages.
As a testament to their live performance’s intensity, the group has opened for national acts including Earth Wind & Fire, Aaron Neville, BB King, Booker T, and Cameo. They have been featured on Fox News, NBC “Live in the Morning,” nationally syndicated “Discover Wisconsin,” and were the featured artist on the Blues Revue and Soul Bag sampler CDs and has been nominated three years in a row for best soul/r&b act in Wisconsin by WAMI, winning the award this year. Walker says of “Ghetto Prophet”, their latest release on Ehlona Records: "'I stretched and struggled to depart further into funk, pop and Motown, remembering it’s 2016.”
