“So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star?”
Folks who are interested in furthering their career and/or learning more about the business side of the music and entertainment industry!
Open to artists, songwriters, novelists, journalists, agents, producers, managers, poets and entrepreneurs of all genres!
We will cover and achieve learning outcomes involving:
• Sync licensing - how to get your music in front of decision makers who could potentially place your music in TV and film
• Recording - do you really need to go to a fancy recording studio to record your demos and tracks?
• Touring & booking - we’ll discuss cold, calling venues and researching the right contacts at those venues to save a lot of time and energy.
• Merchandising/branding - as an artist you want to brand yourself and mark it yourself in a way that fits your overall vision and goals. This will be discussed as well.
• Forming an LLC - if this is going to be a career for you, you’re going to need to handle it like a business entity and forming an LLC is a big part of that for tax purposes.

Thanks for checking in. Everything went well with Brett's performance yesterday. We had a great turnout about 15 minutes into his show. The feedback that I received was very positive from students and employees. He was on time, got things set up with no issues, and started right on time. He even took a few minutes to meet with one of our Communications students for an interview that she had to complete for a class assignment. - Scott A. Mashburn, Ed.D.
